As Certified Passive House Consultants (CPHC), our goal is to bring our clients ideas, by working with work your architect, or utilizing our Design|Build option – to design a project that meets the most stringent building standard in the world for energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality.

All Passive House designs are pre-certified before construction begins, then rated and certified in various stages for energy savings of 80 to 90 percent, at completion.

Following a completed study of your project site and related design documents, your project is submitted to PHIUS to be pre-certified to ensure conformance with the Passive House standard and serve as the preliminary quality assurance checkpoint. What this means for our clients is that rest assured, the project that is about to take shape is planned and built to last for generations to come. During construction, rigorous testing and verification will occur to ensure that quality standards are met, systems are installed properly and project goals are on track.

Sustainable Design and Construction

The five key Passive House and High Performance, Sustainable Design principals to ensure project success in the design phase are:

  1. Development of the structural envelope with continuous insulation which eliminates thermal bridging.
  2. Detail the envelope to be extremely airtight, preventing infiltration of outside air and loss of conditioned air.
  3. Incorporate high-performance windows (typically triple-paned) and doors.
  4. Minimal heating and cooling systems and continuous ventilation, increasing indoor air and environmental quality, and
  5. Management and utilization of solar heat gains to help heat the building in winter and keep it cool in summer.
